RHYTHM COMMUNITY DRUM CIRCLES

Healing Rhythms:  An Evening of Magical Music Making

Repeats monthly, on the third Wednesday of the month, 7:30 PM

Los Gatos Acupuncture and QiGong, 761 University Avenue, Suite A, Los Gatos

Price: $10.00/per person (love offering).

Creating music with others can meet our deepest needs; to express emotion, to create a sense of belonging to the group, to touch the Divine. In the space of this beautiful healing center, we will gather together to listen deeply to each other while weaving our own unique rhythms and melodies into the patterns of the Whole, allowing for the magic to happen . . . I have many drums and other instruments to share or feel free to bring your own.

Host/Facilitator:  Heather Holland.

Monthly Community Drum Circle

Repeats on every fourth Saturday of the month, 7:00 PM.

Adobe Wells Community, 1220 Tasman Drive,
 Main Clubhouse,
 Sunnyvale

This circle is well-attended, and beginners are extremely welcome. Heather is a registered nurse and professional music therapist who has completed the Certificate in Sound Healing at CIIS, so incorporates many interesting group activities, games, and soundscape constructions into the circle. Many drums, percussion instruments, and boomwhackers are available to use. Highly recommended for shy beginners.

BAY AREA DRUM CIRCLE MEET-UPS

Full Moon Circles happen often in the late spring, summer, and fall on the evening of each full moon (or the evening before or after; see Meet-up page for details).

Other Meet-ups are scheduled regularly, and are listed on the Meet-up page. The full-moon circles are well-attended, laid back, and quietly friendly. The other meet-ups, held in public parks or at people's homes are quite varied, but beginners are always welcome, and learning opportunities at all levels are provided. Some drums are provided. Light facilitation may be provided, but the participants tend to be supportive, cooperative, and attentive to others.

PAN AFRICAN CITY ALIVE! DRUM CIRCLE

Repeats every Saturday, ~11:00 AM to midafternoon (cancelled in case of rain)

Meets in front of store, 108 S. Sunnyvale Ave., Sunnyvale CA

Organizer:  Keisha Evans

408-830-9427

NOTE:  An email from Keisha received just before Christmas 2012 indicated that the store is closing, but didn't give an end-date. Their last day in business is January 31, and the drum circle will continue until then. Their close-out sale begins in earnest on January 2 or 3, and they have a number of djembes from Guinea that sound GREAT. Late January 2013 Update: They have received a 3-month reprieve ( February, March, and April 2013). Later January Update per Keisha: They are "reinventing" themselves--dropping clothing from their line; opening the shop on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays; and sponsoring more events. Circle will continue!

DOCKTOWN MARINA DRUM PARTY

Docktown Marina, Redwood City, CA

Repeats second Tuesday of each month, 7-10 PM.

Potluck for dinner, contributions (no drinks) welcome. Hosted bar. This is a very fun drum circle, often with a beginner's lesson at the beginning. Middle eastern and West African rhythms predominate--all skill levels are represented. Some drums and other percussion instruments are provided.

Organizer:  Fern Filner.

NB:  The Yacht Club building used for this circle has been sold, along with facilities for all other land-based activities, and the new owners have served notices to vacate to all. However, the murky legal and regulatory approval situation has enabled the circles to continue. Stay tuned for further developments and plans.
